Indústria: Independência encerra atividades em GO e MS

Com o fechamento das duas unidades, o Independência passa a ter capacidade de abate de 6 mil cabeças de boi por dia, ante 8,4 mil anteriormente. A companhia, com sede em Cajamar, SP, passa a ter dez plantas no Brasil e no Paraguai. Serão 1,1 mil funcionários demitidos na unidade goiana e 900 na sul-mato-grossense; os abates das 2,4 mil cabeças de gado, suspensos desde o pedido de recuperação judicial, no início deste mês, também serão encerrados.
“O fechamento das unidades é uma decisão muito difícil de ser tomada. A companhia conhece suas responsabilidades e reconhece que esta atitude irá impactar seus colaboradores e a sociedade em que ela se encontra, mas a difícil decisão teve de ser tomada a fim de parar a significante saída de dinheiro que estas operações estavam causando por causa da situação atual do mercado”, informou o executivo-chefe do frigorífico, Roberto Graziano Russo, por meio de comunicado ao mercado. O executivo do frigorífico sinalizou ainda que a companhia pode seguir com o fechamento de suas outras dez unidades, mas admitiu também reabrir alguma planta industrial.
